Residency I
In 2018 LAAP undertook a residency at Saruya in Fujiyoshida, Japan.Fujiyoshida is a city located in Yamanashi Prefecture, situated at the northern base of Mount Fuji and built upon old lava flows.
LAAP experimented with field recording techniques of the surrounding area in the lead-up to 'Compositions for the Pool', Researched and engaged in the local traditional bathing culture of Onsen, and undertook several deep listening hikes in the surrounding national parks.
The result of the residency was a collection of sonic portraits of the town, a medium format photographic series and a short film short on Super 8 motion film.
